Let’s Talk About Home Alone 2…

Home Alone 2 is one of the best Christmas movies ever, along with its aptly named predecessor which we covered with our Home Alone Drinking Game. It’s one of those movies where I love it so much that I want the setting to watch to be perfect and end up missing out on seeing it at Christmas time. We all know that Chris Columbus brings the magic to these sorts of movies, but we also have to admire the work that Macaulay Culkin did as Kevin, Joe Pesci as Harry who was hilarious (funny how?), plus Daniel Stern as Marv. Combine that with Catherine O’Hara and John Heard and this film is easily as good as the first.

Can you imagine how good this film would have been if Katherine O’Hara (who plays Kate) stumbled across John Candy again?! It’s also worth pointing out that whilst the first film did well commercially ($476m on a $18m budget) it also did well critically earning not one, but two Oscar nominations. That’s pretty crazy when you think about it today. In 1991 Home Alone was nominated for 2 Academy Awards so this movie was easily under the pump to perform and make a lot of money but also back up the success with the critics. And now that we’re in 2023 we can see that it didn’t perform as well for the critics or the moviegoers, it still made a respected $358,000,000 worldwide which at the time achieved the highest opening weekend for a Chris Columbus film until the first Harry Potter movie came out and surpassed it. Either way, that’s insanely good.

This is a Home Alone 2 Drinking Game
It’s impossible to keep up with 15-20 drinking game rules. We limit our rules to 10.
Each time a rule occurs, you take a drink. We don’t have any rules that tell you to finish drinks or make stupid fucking noises. We keep things simple.
Our rules aren’t standard, they’re obscure. That’s how we’re different.

Drink Every Time…

Kevin once again misses his family.
The Sticky Bandits stick to things.
Kevin uses the Talkboy.
The Sticky Bandits experience pain thanks to Kevin.
You hear a Christmas song.
Angels with Filthy Souls comes on.
One of Kevin’s family members speak about him.
For each Strawberry Tart Kevin orders from room service (pause the film at the end for this)
Harry mumbles under his breath.
You spot a Coca Cola product.
