Let’s Talk About Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby…

Talladega Nights became a reality when a pitch of 6 simple words from the producers were uttered to the movie studios: Will Ferrell as a NASCAR driver. I mean, who wouldn’t want to greenlight that? The year was 2006 and Will was coming fresh off the success of Anchorman, Wedding Crashers and Elf so he teams up with the uber talented Adam McKay and creates one of the best sports comedy films of the past 20 years. Did you know that Will and Adam both wrote the movie?

Talladega Nights like most Adam/Will films is so incredibly quotable, hilarious and laugh out loud funny. I can’t count the amount of times I’ve told people that “I’m too drunk to taste this chicken” or prayed to 8 pounds, 6 ounces baby Jesus. This is legit Will and Adam at their very best.

In terms of what the movie is about? I mean, don’t those 6 simple words at the very beginning tell you enough? Will Ferrell as a NASCAR driver? No? Without spoiling it, I’ll say that Will is hilarious, he’s joined by the equally funny John C Reilly as his driving partner (both of whom starred in Step Brothers which is one of my favorite movies), we have Sacha Baron Cohen playing the new (French) kid in town who happens to be the best driver plus a load of amazing side roles by people like Michael Clarke Duncan, Jane Lynch and Gary Cole. If you haven’t seen it yet, wow you’re in for a treat. Grab a drink and enjoy this amazing Will/Adam collab.
